How Sensodyne Rapid Works in Stages

The science behind Sensodyne Rapid Relief

Discover how to relieve the pain of sensitive teeth at just 60 seconds*

*Apply a pea-sized amount to a clean finger-tip and rub gently into each sensitive tooth (Max. twice per day) for 1 minute.

Here at Sensodyne, it is our job to study the causes of tooth sensitivity to really understand how to relieve it. Sensitivity can occur when the softer, inner part of the tooth called ‘dentine’ becomes exposed, revealing small holes called tubules. When you eat something, such as a cold, hot, sweet or sour food, signals rush down these tubules, triggering the nerve inside your tooth. This can result in the instant, short, sharp pain of tooth sensitivity.

As many as 1 in 2 Australians suffer from sensitive teeth, but only 1 in 3 of sensitivity sufferers treat it regularly. What’s more, 70% of sufferers say sensitivity takes the pleasure out of eating and drinking, and many may also go to great lengths to create work-arounds for the pain.** These may include: avoiding certain types of food or drink, eating or drinking on one side of their mouth, covering their teeth with their tongue, changing their brushing technique, and wearing a scarf over their mouth in cold weather.

But there is no need to come up with all these ways to cope, as there’s a simple solution: Sensodyne Rapid Relief. Our Rapid Relief toothpaste range beats sensitivity pain fast and it provides clinically proven relief at 60 just seconds.*

Explaining the science

The unique Sensodyne Rapid Relief formulation is designed for fast relief, with an optimised polymer system that helps the active ingredient (stannous fluoride) get to work fast.

This polymer system creates a gel-like scaffold that helps hold the stannous fluoride in place, preventing it from being washed away in the mouth to enable faster blockage of the exposed dentine tubules.

This allows Sensodyne Rapid Relief toothpaste to provide fast relief and long last lasting protection with twice daily brushing, and it also leaves your mouth feeling clean and fresh.
